New Era Creative Space – Advancing individual and collective potential through creative initiatives.

A YEAR IN ACTION!

Dear Friends and Supporters,

In May 2013 we launched a campaign to raise funds to open a creative educational center in Peekskill NY. Through the generous donations of friends and family, New Era Creative Space (NECS) opened it’s door to the community in September of 2013. The above video represent the accomplishments of the past year. NECS is a community-based organization with the mission of enriching children and adults through creative initiatives including performing and visual art, science and technology, leadership empowerment and training for children and adults. In less than a year, through collaboration with local organizations and numerous artists, teachers, parents and health care providers, we have provided workshops to over 100 students. We have done this with very limited resources and help from countless supporters and volunteers. Highlight of the past ten months include the following:

  • Visual art, dance, music and creative writing workshops for children and adults.
  • Children’s Theatre for children ages 5-14 served 32 children in the Fall, Winter and Spring
  • Architecture and engineering for children ages 4 – 14
  • 3D computer animation for children 9 – 14
  • Family international folk dance dance monthly series – intergenerational.
  • Workshops for preschoolers included sign language, cooking, and theatre.
  • A free youth leadership empowerment club for girls age 10 – 14, with 10-18 girls attending throughout the year.
  • Monthly free community building programs – Family Game Night and Youth Evening of the Arts.
  • 2 Free Parent educational workshops.

WHAT NEXT?
Future plans include empowerment workshops for teens, monthly parenting support groups for children with special needs, and further development and expansion of our art and science programs through the collaboration of local Museums and organizations which we are currently in conversation with.

OUR NEED
This coming school year, we would like to expand our programs, while continuing to keep the cost of classes affordable, to meet the needs of a wider range of people in our community. To do so, we need to raise $10,000 over the course of the next month. Our goal is to get 100 people to donate $100. However, any contribution (at any level) would be appreciated. Your contributions small or large will help us continue to provide creative educational programs at affordable prices, free community building events and scholarships to families with financial need.

WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP?
Share this with your friends. Spread the word about NECS to others. The more people who learn about his the greater chance we have to raise the funds. If you know of anyone who might be inspired by the work we are doing please let them know about us. Share the link to this page on your social media networks. Have a fundraising meet up for NECS.
